Frequently asked questions
What file formats can I import?
Drivant supports Excel (.xlsx, .xls), CSV, tab-delimited text files, GPX, KML, GeoJSON, and its native .dvnt project format. You can also paste data directly from a spreadsheet. The import wizard auto-detects your columns, so you don't need to reformat your data.
How does route optimization work?
Drivant uses K-means++ clustering to group stops into geographically balanced routes, then applies a nearest-neighbor + 2-opt TSP (Traveling Salesman Problem) solver to find the most efficient sequence within each route. The schedule optimizer then back-calculates departure times so every stop hits its delivery window.
Can I use Drivant in a web browser?
Yes. Pro plan subscribers get full browser access at drivant.com — no download required. The Free and Standard plans use the native desktop app for Mac and Windows. Both the web and desktop versions have the same core features.
How do I share routes with my team?
You can export routes as Excel files with embedded route maps, share .dvnt project files directly, or generate a password-protected shareable link (Pro). For GPS devices, export to GPX, KML, or GeoJSON format. To get routes to drivers for execution, hand off to a TMS — Drivant pairs natively with Fleetfully, or works with whatever TMS you already use.
Is my data secure?
Yes. All data is encrypted in transit using TLS. Cloud-stored projects are securely hosted on Wasabi S3 with per-user isolation. You can also export encrypted .dvnt files protected with AES-256-GCM encryption and a password you choose. The desktop app uses Electron's context isolation for additional security.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Absolutely. You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Billing page inside the app, or through the Stripe Customer Portal. Your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period. After cancellation, your account downgrades to the Free tier but your data is preserved.
Do you offer a free trial?
The Free plan is free forever and lets you view shared routes and open .dvnt project files. All new users get a 14-day Pro trial with full access to every feature — no credit card required. After the trial, choose Free, Standard, or Pro.
What's the difference between OSRM, HERE, and Mapbox routing?
OSRM is a free, open-source routing engine and serves as the default provider. It provides fast, accurate driving directions. HERE offers commercial-grade truck routing with support for vehicle dimensions, weight limits, and live traffic data — available on the Pro plan. Mapbox serves as a fallback provider. Drivant automatically cascades through providers if one is unavailable, so you always get directions.
How does team collaboration work?
With a Teams plan, you create an organization and invite team members. Shared projects are visible to all members. Editors submit change sets for review, admins approve or reject changes, and version history lets you roll back to any previous state. Route assignments let you restrict specific routes to specific team members.
Can viewers suggest changes without editing?
Yes. Viewers can submit suggestions on any project — describing what should change without having edit access. Editors and admins review suggestions and accept or dismiss them. This keeps viewers involved without risking accidental edits.
